Lane Creatives: How an Overflowing Bookshelf Built a Family Business
Some stories start with a big idea. Ours started with a very full bookshelf.
Our Story
My husband and I homeschooled all three of our children from the ground up—and if you have ever homeschooled, you know exactly what that means for your home library. Over the years, we built a massive book collection that gradually took over more than a few rooms. Our shelves were packed tight with everything from technical quilting books and papercraft guides to classic children's stories and deep educational resources. These books were loved, used, and treasured through decades of lessons and late-night projects.
When our kids grew up and the house finally got a little quieter, we looked at those sprawling shelves and realized something important: these books deserved a second life with families who would love, read, and lean on them just as much as we did.
That is how Lane Creatives was born.
Growing Up Between the Shipping Boxes
Selling online isn't actually new to us. We have been navigating the e-commerce world since our kids were young. Back in the early days of eBay and Amazon, our children practically grew up helping us pack shipping boxes, print labels, and learn the basic ropes of running a small, independent business from the kitchen table.
Now, the story has come full circle. With our youngest son working right by our side, we are building something entirely of our own. This venture gives him the hands-on opportunity to learn what it truly takes to run an independent online business so he can confidently step out and build his own dreams someday.
